Faith

Raising his fists he strikes her, strikes her again.

Etched within the mosaic of her face, amongst the tributaries of creases, like a map,

Whispering her age; therein lies his greatest frustration - indomitable resistance.

Repulsed by the aroma of her soul he beats her, beats her again.

Praying his fears would sublime, like a flake lost amongst the desert crystals,

She spits in his face. Thoughts of her child float enticingly around Lucifer’s fork.

A vision, such innocence! Marching every step through the sprawling slums,

drowned,

In a sea of pebbles, looking on,

From behind her angelic wings her child curses a world, blinded by the fires of hell, burnt,

By the temptations of ignorance.

Kneel she shall not, she knows, knows how the story ends.

Cupping his pure face in the cradle of her hands, she sings victoriously in his ear;

Palestine shall never die. Palestine shall never die.

Guilt: Phoenix of the desert.

"I swam and played on the beach and then my father called me to eat, and I was running toward him when they threw a bomb at us. I saw my father crying. I saw children crying and looking for their families. I saw shattered bodies. I saw my brother (Haitham) sleeping in the sand. His body was covered with sand and there was blood coming from his leg. I brought a bottle of water and a cloth and cleaned his body, and I moved him to a clean blanket and stayed by him. I tried to wake him up, but he never woke up…”

"I saw my father's intestines come out of his body, and then I saw my sister with pieces of a missile in her arm and her body."

Huda shall in years to come exist iconically; no doubt appearing in collections of various anthological collections of art depicting war. 30 year from now some journalist from some paper in some country shall track her down and proceed to extrapolate the effects, the impact and the consequences of being ‘that’ 11 year old girl. The child the world watched meandering across the beach having just witnessed the annihilation of her immediate family, including her parents, four sisters and an eight month old brother. Posthumously some writer may decide to construct her autobiography and explain how, what happened on that dark day, motivated/demoralised her throughout her life achievements or demise.

She shall probably continue the rest of her youth drowned in a sea of love formulated by an amalgam of sympathy and pity.

Personal feelings of responsibility surrounding this child’s Shakespearean loss, historically stem from either the Wests involvement in the creation of the middle eastern monstrosity, or those devised from natural humanistic emotional empathy. This results in this interesting ‘media adoption’. That is to present a entire nations grief in a single being.

The eerie similarity regarding Huda and Ali, the limbless child who lost 15 members of his family along with his arms and legs during the invasion in Iraq, suggests this is no coincidence.

A vast majority of the Western or ‘first world’ civilisation are depressingly detached from humanitarian cases in places such as Palestine and Iraq. To imagine such severity on ones home turf is essentially inconceivable to the western mind. We are presented with a situation where as individuals born into safe bubbles the external occurrences merely register as a destitute series of unfortunate circumstances. We see a burnt corpse on TV, squirm (just as we did during a horror movie at the cinema), switch the channel and proceed to discuss football tactics and members of the opposite sex.

The construction of a human representation is akin to an electric shot, awakening the mind. Reminding us of the reality of the daily suffering and pain hundreds of thousands experience everyday of their lives. Reminding us also of the creation of more impoverished lives; simultaneously created with every comfortable breath we inhale.

The greatest linguistic literacy geniuses would struggle to depict the harrowing scenes of Huda crying, calling out, ‘Daddy Daddy!’ in its gut wrenching entirety. No matter how apathetically regressed our mind, the vision of an orphaned child still slices through our sluggish soles.

Until this ceases I refuse to give up hope in the world.

To believe one should disbelieve first.....

It's been long...exams....

If we are born into a religion we feel it would be blasphemous to question our beliefs or express our doubts.

This is a general accusation presented by atheists but one that I would, as a theist, agree with.

Yet this same philosophy seems to be implemented amongst atheists as well.

Following conversations with various people who do not believe in God is occurs to me that atheism is as much of a belief as religion is. It commands the same level of unwavering loyalty and defence of its ideology, with the majority of its advocates approaching debate from a biased angle thus preventing constructive progression of discussion.

I have a few questions. Should anyone feel they can provide guidance on this matter please feel free to respond.

Evolution:

If humans evolved from monkeys shall monkeys evolve in to humans?

Why do we not have a half monkey half human in the midst of evolution (primitive human? – excluding George Bush) or will a monkey wake to find its self mentally physically and emotionally evolved one fine summers day?

God Zone?

It has been scientifically proven in the temporal lobe region of our brain lies a ‘god zone’. If a new born baby us theoretically left in an environment with no external influences he would search for something to worship, hence throughout time humans have idolised animals planets rocks humans, and of course God/Allah.

Theists claim that this provides proof that God created this to preserve human faith.

Atheists claim this show that religiosity /religious experiences are at least, in part, a function of our genetics and biology.

This query is bore purely out of naivety and curiosity.

Why does nature’s apparent evolution encourage us to form a hierarchical system with a god/leader at the top? Does this mean we as humans by nature are made to be lead? What purpose does this function provide? And if this is truly the case does that mean communism and the deletion of a social hierarchical system could never be implemented because it is within human nature to be lead?

Help me. I think too much my brains overloading.
